Having an always-on-the-go mentality can be exhausting. Especially, when you are trying to balance school, work, family, friends, and the million other things life throws our way. Many of us find ourselves feeling stuck in the never ending cycle of just "trying to get through the week" but before we know it, it's Monday again. Over the past few months, this is something I have been struggling with. Being a full-time college student along with navigating a job, I find myself overfilling my to-do list and struggling finding a balance between being productive and resting.
In this blog post, I am going to talk about some tips and tricks that have helped me, a twenty-two year old, slow down and realize that it is totally okay to pause the hustle and spoil yourself a little.
Tips To Help Balance "The Hustle" and Rest
Start Your Day With A Self-Reflection
This is one of my favorite forms of Self-Care. Grab a cup of coffee or your favorite morning drink and sit down with a pen and paper, and tune into yourself. Ask yourself questions; What are my three major goals for the day? What is currently not as important or helping me that needs to be removed from my to-do list? How can I be a better version of myself today? Stay consistent and I promise you will see a change in your day!
2. Take A Break From Your To-Do List And Get Up And Stretch.
Did you know stretching releases endorphins which can help relieve stress and help your mental health? So, next time when you feel like you have been sitting down too long or running around way too much, take a few minutes to stretch. Watch how much better you will feel!
3. Learn That It's Totally Okay To Do Nothing
This is one that can definitely be easier said than done. If you're anything like me, sitting around doing nothing drives me crazy. But, feeling burnt out is real and it is completely normal and okay to put aside life's duties and cuddle up in bed with your favorite book, listen to your favorite song, or take a walk around the block. Knowing how to balance work and rest can be really difficult, but super essential in upping your self-care!
4. Journaling
In all honesty, I have never been the one to ever enjoy writing, but journaling is something that I have learned to love. Try it out - Grab a journal and pen and start writing. It's okay to not have a specific topic to write about. I encourage you to just let your mind wonder and write down your thoughts, even if they sound crazy. Maybe even stay simple and write about how your day went, or tune in on your emotions and ask yourself why you're feeling the way you're feeling, write about your favorite movie or book, or just make a quick list of the things you're grateful for. Journaling is great way to create a stronger relationship with yourself and help you reach your goals!
These are just a few ways I love to escape the hustle and relax during my twenties. I hope you guys take some of my advice and give them a try!
